A WONDERFULL COOKIE STORY

WHITE CHOCOLATE & ORANGE COOKIES-SWEET&SIMPLE BAKES FOR OCT'09

I'm excited,how can i not be? This is how i began my comment on----sweet and simple bakes-----when read about their monthly bake event,i mean i actually had the hope that a newbie like me could participate in an event ,yes and in truly sweet and simple recipes,thank u Maria(i love surrey in the u.k. after watching the movie"THE HOLIDAY" by the way,wanted to ask,were u around there Mary when jude law & cameron diaz were shooting round the table loving their hot chocolate with 3 marshmellows-and so was i this side of town-but i didn coz i was already bombarding way too many questions for a first time).

Now i'm super-excited,how can i not be?Maria was so prompt in letting me know her mind & heart-YES YES YES ,i could participate & boy she actually was looking foward for my entry.Boy,i was more than thrilled,no long q's of rejected registrations et all,finally i qualified for something...whew ,atlast & exactly when my minds been on cookies these days & these seem so delish yet so easy ,at the same time...suprised....dont be...just read along.......

Atlast a member,that too of so lovely & cute a baking event,READ ALL ABOUT IT HERE i love the round up part the best,am going to bake these soon...i had so many questions....Can i sustitute lemon for orange?not coz its my 'in' flavour of the month but to pick up oranges that can zest(like the one's nigella & rachel allen zest on travel & living),i have to go to the main market in the city & that too it aint a regular suppy & i need nice plumpy one's,dont i?

White choco chips have eluded me,even after research & a dozen & more calls,for the last 8 months & i surely aint interested in compounded choco but good chocs ,atleast coverture or ultra coverture both in semi-sweet & white in real(no compound choco for me again please) chocolate.
Else will chip off chips from a bar or 2 of nestle's milky bar or be happy to chip off from my selbourne,white bar(compounded-malaysian).My semi sweet choco chips too are the same story.....

But i'm full on for this one,my first ever event which i have taken a shine to,too & that too it had to be these gorgeous cookies....ok get my glass of milk,will ya? It has to be a cookies & milk star gazing party tonight.
Oh i'm thrilled to bits & over the moon,tickled pink at the same time and in all my excitement i missed Maria's correct name that was right under or rather in front of my nose,now in all this excitement i so do hope that i dont miss an ingredient or 2 or mess up the recipe...hehehehe...lol(not lots of luv but laugh out loud this time mom)

This is sounding like my dairy now,but i cant stop adding this today,its the 26 th oct & am so so thrilled with my goodie bag of white chocolate callets in belgian chocolate,boy the do taste great,& i have biggish cute buttons in place of chocolate chips,perfect....and also have a big tub of hazlenut paste from turkey,a stonger,thicker,semi-sweet version of my fav nutella,oh will make a great frosting to drizzle with confectioners sugar.And yeah half a shelf in the refrigerator actually looks a little butter kiosk,and im so happy,i wont have to worry about running short again,atleast for awhile.And part 2 of this thrilling & joyfull news is that am going to recieve a few more callets(button chips)in a day or two,single origin in milk(33%)for my choco chip cookies & the like & dark choco(53%-70%)

Atlast today my cookies sit warming(heat)in the oven,baking to perfection,my first ever choco-chip(ok i have callets,i.e cute as a button buttons but then this is good choco not the compounded variety & the first time i ever managed to get my hands on these)and they are already looking yummy...is it a coincidence that my first event is sweet & simple bakes & is a choco chip cookie & i managed to find chocolate,all at the same time?

These are sweet & crispy(i baked a little longer coz my oven takes time & i love 'em crispy or crunchy ,u get the picture?)but shouldn have placed the callets(my chips)on top,kinda browned.The other change i had to do was zest,had to make do with lemon zest coz after zest a few oranges,gave up coz they were bitter & they werent the oranges nigella & rachell allen zests with(sorry couldn find those) but will definately try those with orange and double the amount of ---this---recipe coz i havent even photographed 'em & they are already ''sold out'',hehehehe.

The other excitment for me with these cookies is that am working with real chocolate,chips ,callets et all,for the very first time...i mean t'was so so exciting when i melted the chocolate to drizzle(ok a little more than drizzle) over.Had to hide 'em to set overnight else would have no pics really.

And best parts the aroma wafting all over the home from the kitchen,aah....everybody knew cookies were sitting in the oven.

Sweet,Simple & very very tastee,ok delicious....am very very happy with my first bake & there's yet time for the round up but am already all eager beaver to know what's next month's bake...oh yeah,have to wait till the 3rd of november to visit Maria and Rosie's Sweet & Simple site to peekabo on what amazing bake they have up for us for november......love u guys for bringing home these lovely cookies!!!!!

The callets i tipped on were a little browned but yet yummy......m&m's anyone?
